86 Iroc Problems

its a 5.0 automatic runs great usualy all of a sudden it wont start itll start but dies and if u touch the gas it dies what could be causing this

tpi? probly the MAF sensor. is the check engine light on

no cheak engine light on but when it dies the service engine soon comes on also the tac reads 7000 when cranking and when it dies and never did before btw also while lookn a battery charger up the hood came down and sparks sparks sparks could it be the cpu shorting out?

uhh, that'd be the battery shorting out. tho it's probly not good on a lot of things. do you have a volt meter?

well the battery cranks it over fine its just like it isnt getting gas could it have shorted out the fuel pump

i doubt it shorted the fuel pump. since you say the tach jumps to 7000 RPM i'm starting to wonder about your coil, the pick-up in the distributer, or the ESC module

the tack doesnt jump it just stays there...the sparking happened about a week ago i got it started once where it ran then i shut it off and its doing it again when it actualy got started for like 20 minutes the tac went back down to where it belongs

lol well Ty 4onthefloor i really appritiate your help this is gonna sound very very stupid but i was just out tehre goofn round with maah baby (my camaro) and yea i figured out the problem the gas gauge is messed up or sumtin the tank was dry lol

Thirdgen camaros gas gauges suck my ass. I fill mine up around every 300 kms just to be safe even though I could go a fair bit more.

pretty much all chevy gas gauges suck. especially truck gauges, my truck has a tall gas tank behind the seat. one minute i have 1/4 tank, and the next minute it's empty.

i figure as long as my gas needle is still bouncing around there's still gas in the tank. when it dont bounce no more, i haul ass to the gas station
