where the hell is heaven?
For the folk that believe in heaven. Do you think that it is an actual physical place? Somewhere beyond us? In, the so called, space. Or beyond space. Think about Einsteins space-time deal here. Because 1 day in heaven is 1000 years on earth. Would that mean heaven is moving supersuper fast?

Re: where the hell is heaven?
physical, no.
beyond us, yes. and that is why we can't understand. your first sentance sums this question up completely. it comes down to what you believe: for those who believe in a heaven, it can be where ever they want it to be. because for those who don't believe, it is nowhere. it's a paradox that can only exist in the realm of subjectivism. therefore, my belief that there is a heaven, and my beliefs on what it is are correct. and so are yours. and so are those of everyone else. but the space-time (relativity) thing... it's as you approach the speed of light, you're moving faster than the physical rest of the universe, but relative to that your biological clock keeps going the same speed. so you are moving faster than the rest of the universe, which is why a 20light-year trip might only take you a day or two, but since you are going so fast (that space actually contracts) your speed and movement borders on the speed of time... and thus the rest of the universe sees that you have been gone for 20 years. this is probably the only feasable way to do time travel (but only to the future). speed of light for as far as the time you want to go forward, you're gone for a little while on your trip, and when you get back... it's years in the future (yet you've only aged as much as the time you were relative to at the speed of light - a few days)

Re: where the hell is heaven?
Many, many people believe that there are at least 8 dimensions. some people beleive in up to 11 or 12. I (think) there are theories about these, but that our physical bodies are only capable of living in the 4 we have (4th being time). So if heaven was in another dimension, then technically it could operate outside of time, because time would have no bearing on it. That is probably the best answer I can give, but beyond that its a faith thing, something that our minds cannot comprehend. In terms of a 'physical' place, Its hard to say without knowing the other dimensions. I believe our souls will go to a 'place' (or maybe a time ??) But I figure, I'll figure out when I get there.
The Bible also says that there are new colors in heaven, some we have never seen nor imagined before, and that God is the Three in one; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.....three essences, but one person Don't ask for a logical explanation because there isn't one; it jsut a matter of faith. and while i know a lot of you won't agree with me, I'm not looking for an argument, im simply stating what I believe. |

Re: where the hell is heaven?
As the saying goes "in Heaven above..." However, I agree completely with what Dan said at the beginning of his post. It's beyond us, which is why we do not understand.

I've never given much thought as to an actual location.

It exists in our minds.

Re: where the hell is heaven?
I had never thought of "where" it was either. That's a pretty darn good question.
I like the "in the clouds, stupid" ![]() /me rubs brain... Maybe it's like the Simpsons episode where Lisa grows the stuff in the dish and it becomes a whole new world with Lisa as their "God". So to them Heaven would be somewhere in Lisa's world. So to our God, we are nothing but a organism living in a dish in his/her world. The big bang was just a firecracker thrown in Gods world with no more thought to it than that. But in our world, it takes billions of years for that firecracker to explode. Our idea of heaven might be something that we made up to relieve ourselves of the fear of dying and the unknown? What was the movie where they are looking for the Galaxy, Men in Black I think, and it ends up being contained in a glass ball around the cats neck? When you looked into the ball, there was billions of stars etc, but to the cat and the rest of us its just a marble. Would the people in the glass ball call us gods if they could see us? Would they think that "heaven" is somewhere in our world? Damn you, I'm supposed to be working, not trying to figure out the mysteries of the universe. Excellent question man. |

Re: where the hell is heaven?
The book says "be good and you'll get into heaven", humans have been told this their entire lives and they try to be "sin" free so they can get into "heaven". It's the same as telling a kid he'll get presents from santa if he/she is good all year. Religion is the biggest and most succesful hoax, and since it was made up 2 thousand years ago, it worked because they were so gullible.

Re: where the hell is heaven?
the buddhists actually gave a physical location of where they (some sects anyway) believed that their "heaven" was.
anyways, we;re all fucked about getting in anyway...revelations says on 40,000 good christians will be in heaven, and im sure some 40,000 good christians have died so far...

Re: where the hell is heaven?
I think it's 144,000.
I did a quick search and found what I attached below on a webpage. " Will only 144,000 people go to heaven? No. The book of Revelation tells us that a great multitude of people will be saved and go to heaven. Jehovah's Witnesses teach that only 144,000 people will go to heaven. They teach this based upon a literal interpretation of Revelation 7:4; 14:1, 3. The book of Revelation was written in symbolic language - i.e., signs (Rev. 12:1, 3; 15:1). To determine whether 144,000 is literal or symbolic, we must compare it with the context of Revelation. In Revelation chapter 7, we immediately learn that the number 144,000 is not a literal number but a symbolic number. In Revelation 7:9-10, 14, John tells us that there will be a great multitude in heaven, saved by being washed in the blood Jesus. Therefore, the 144,000 is not a literal number of people. The number, 144,000 denotes God's people, spiritual Israel (i.e., Christians, the church) (Rom. 2:28- 29; Col. 2:11-13; Gal. 3:24-29; Heb. 10:1-25). It is composed of:
God wants everyone to be saved (1 Tim. 2:4; 2 Pet. 3:9) - not just 144,000. Everyone who obeys Jesus will be saved (Heb. 5:9)." This is pretty much the way I believe and was taught. |
