bad starter solenoid...woohoo!

i leave my girlfriends this morning to start my car and for like 7-10 seconds when i turn the key all i here is the starter going, "click, click, click, click...." then it starts over. i get home and try starting my car bac up and agian with the clicking then starting. 5 minutes ago, i go out to show my dad nad the car turns right over, what the fuck. i'm gonna see if pepboys has this part, most likely they'll tell me they only have the enitire starter and if i call the dealership, i'm sure the soleniod is probably about a zillion dollars.

how long do i have before it completely fails do you think? cuz its rainin here real bad and i don't get paid til friday and i need my car.

choice 3 is lookin good now.

ok, now i'm confused. the car didn't start again this morning and once again, i jiggled the positive battery cable. the car started right up. now the connection on the terminal is loose because it does not tighten all the way over the terminal. also, for some dumb ass reason the battery tie down is not on the car, and i can't find it anywhere. could the loose connection on the battery be causing this problem? i'm gonna get new battery cables before i get a new starter to find out. also, i'm gonna rig somethin to hold the battery steady while i find a new tie-down.

however, if the batter is loose, then why don't i loose my presets on the radio and my clock does not reset. i'm confused here.

Re: bad starter selenoid...woohoo!

How old is your battery? Same thing happened to me. I was out of the country for a long time, came back and when I tried to start my car, I got the click click sound. I just assumed it was my battery that died so I jumped it from a friends car and it started fine. For me I'm guessing there was juice in the battery (b/c my seatbelt, engine check, abs, etc lights lite up when I turned the key), but not enough to start it (hence the clicking).

battery is only 5-6 months old. i'm nearly positive its the lack of the tie down and loose terminal cables. i'll be stoping by pepboys for new cables today adn i'm still searcjing my house for that tie-dow. if not i'll jusy hop on www.junkyarddog.com and put in a request, it'll proabably only cost about 10-12 $'s.
