99 Taurus Radiator Questions
i am replacing a radiator on a 99 taurus. what type of coolant does it require? will regular prestone do or should i use dexcool? also, is there a special way i should fill the coolant back up, like, a release valve that i need to open before i pour the coolant in? TIA

Re: 99 Taurus Radiator Questions
99 taurus takes regular green coolant. Be sure to mix it 50/50 with water. Dexcool is a G.M. coolant. 2002 and up Ford vehicles take a long life coolant, it is yellow in color. When filling make sure that you fill the upper rad hose then put it on the rad. Fill the rad through the coolant de-gas bottle, or overflow bottle. Leave the cap off for awhile with the engine running to release the air in the system. When the engine reaches normal operating temp the upper rad hose should be hot. Then cap the overflow bottle, let the engine run for awhile and top up the bottle as needed. Maybe go for a short drive and then double check the level when you return.
