windshield antenna

does anybody remember the antennas that they used to have that looked like a rear window defroster, but on the windshield? is there anybody that makes a kit to tape the antenna to the windshield or anything like that, or did that concept die? Let me know what you think about my idea, and if you know anybody that makes an antenna kit like what i am talking about.

Re: windshield antenna

Yeah, I remember those. Up the windshield and across the top... Hell, I've got one in my '77 Jimmy. They're actually embedded into the glass (that's what it looks like anyway) and there's a little plug at the base of the windshield that goes to the radio.
Actually I miss those things... saves you from putting holes in the body to mount an ugly antenna. I also think they work very well.
I don't know of anyone who makes a kit like that. I think it would be pretty hard to stick something like that to your windshield without making a mess of it. The car companies should think about using them again imo.... they were great!
