Re: 3 series drifting?

The older bmw's tend to have more lively handling (aka oversteery). My advice is to check the bmw forums.

find some videos of BMW's drifting.
there are TONS.

8200rpm.com (or .net, don't remember)
has tons of euro cars drifting.

it's a rwd vehicle, you can drift it.

Re: 3 series drifting?

that might be it... i think he he has done a couple'a things to it, i was probably way wrong on that guess but ya it is an 83 325i. but if it does have 120 torque how well would it fair on the drift course or just kinda practicing/messin around in an open parking lot

Re: 3 series drifting?

Is it a manual or auto.?
Take out all the interior except for the drivers seat and it should be loads of fun.
Wet pavement will work whether or not you've got 100hp or 500hp.

Re: 3 series drifting?

E30s are GREAT drifters because they are light. Yours should be under 2500lbs. And LSD should help you drift.

Re: 3 series drifting?

Have you tried replacing your shift linkage? Your 2nd gear snycro might be worn out.

I do believe the E30 M3 would be the ultimate car for drifting to come out of Europe.
I've been looking in to getting a 2002tii and make an old skool drifter, or maybe a 318is.

Re: 3 series drifting?

it only has LSD because the old differential broke or somethin happened to it and when he went to buy another one the dealer he bought it from actually sent him the wrong one but it was an LS so it worked out for the better. but yes the car is extremely light thanks for your help guys

Re: 3 series drifting?

LSD will help you drift because when your trying to break traction, it will transfer torque to the wheel that isn't spinning enough, therefore keeping your traction broken and keeping you sideways.
