Thumbs up Finally got my rear sway bar installed!!

Well, I finally got all the parts and got it installed.. Its a 21mm Skunk2 rear swaybar. The install was pretty easy after I rounded up all the parts. One thing I liked about this swaybar is it came with a backing plate to prevent against subframe tear through.

The bar made the car handle so much nicer.. Feels a lot more stable driving in a straight line, and really smooth in corners. All I can say is this is probably one of my best mods for the money. It didnt give me to much oversteer the car feels nice and balanced.

My suggestion is.. If you dont have a rear swaybar get one..

Ill post my pics as soon as Webshots get finished upgrading their systems..

I couldn't agree more. It reminds me of when I got an OEM 6th gen Si sway bar for my '00 Civic DX coupe. I loved it from the moment I put it on. I can take curves and corners with greater ease and at a quicker pace. The balance of it (even with mine being a but smaller than yours) is something that can't be matched with just tie/strut bars alone. If you don't have a rear swaybar, GET ONE, you'll be thanking yourself once you experiance what it can do.

This was how mine turned out I put on about a month ago...

Ive had it on for a couple days now and have played with it some.. I cant believe how much of a different the bar makes.. Even with my stock wheels with really crappy tires, corners I was taking before my tires would yell like a banshi, now I can take the corner at least 5mph faster and the crappy tires dont even make a noise... Its amazing.. I cant wait to get my 15s with my good tires back on, and go rip up some roads!!!!

The skunk2 kit that I got was cake. Everything bolts right in no drilling or anything. Since I didnt have a swaybar before I didnt even have to unbolt anything. 8 bolts and your finished, The hardest part was getting the swaybar into the endlink after you already the other side connected. That took some pulling and twisting. If you do it with a friends help you shouldnt have any problems at all. We are talking about an hour tops. You can probably get done alot faster then that.

Only took me about a half hour to install mine.

Racing Rice: I can only imagine how hard that last endlink was the put through the hole, I had a heck of a time with my 13mm OEM Si bar, and I would imagine a 9mm thicker bar would be even harder to bend down.

Like mentioned above, the install is a piece of cake if you have all the parts you need to do it with. Remember ALL 6th gen Civics are pre-holed ready for a rear swaybar.

Im always a little slower then most..

Heres a list of Swaybars that I looked at when I was going to get mine.

Suspension Techniques: Requires drilling and may want to get some custom made piece to fit on the subframe for some added strength. I think this one was a 19mm bar. I didnt like the way it mounted at all.

Nuespeed: Very decent bar. Mounting hardware probably a little better then the Skunk2 (maybe) Nuespeed makes great products, but you pay for them. This is a 19mm bar.

Type R: Not a bad bar if you dont mind pieceing it together from honda. Requires drilling and some reinforcements pieces made for the installation. You will also need SI endlinks from honda as well. I almost went this way, but I figured Id miss a part or 2 that I needed. This is a 22mm bar.

Progress Tech: I didnt look into progressive to much. So I cant really tell you much about them. It is a 22mm bar also.

Skunk2: This is the bar I went with. It came with everything needed to install. Bolted right up. Came with frame reinforcement plates. I only paid $153 shipped. Its a 21mm swaybar.

SI Swaybar: I looked at this bar but it was a little to small for my taste. You will probably still have a good amount of understeer on a EX since it has a 22mm front swaybar stock. Youll have to get all the pieces from honda but everything will bolt up to a 6th Gen civic. This bar is 13mm.

There are other bars out there too. But these were the main ones I looked a little at.

If the HB's are anything like the coupes/sedans, your rear lower control arms should already have holes in them where the end link bolts attach to. If not, you gotta get them drilled out at a shop that KNOWS exactly where the holes should be at on the arms. Good luck with it.
