Tinting windows
Is there a good way to tint the windows, not just painting them black?

I like to use real tint that one can get at a glass tinting shoppe. Most shoppes will give you a slab of it free for the asking.

testors has black window tint in a spray can. not sure how well it works, but i knwo they have it

Some of my friends are doing this with future and paint.
If you have Future try to put some acrylic (I guess) black paint in and check if it works out. My friends are tinting airplane canopy's with that procedure.

Tamiya acrylic paint X-10 Smoke (hope I remember well the code...). Made specially for that job. Good for panel lines too. Or simulate oil on engines...

Juha Airio uses the Humbrol metallics, he doesn't stir up the pigments, just uses the tinted clear on top in the jar. And that's not enough, he puts it on with a brush!? There was a tutorial some time ago in Scale Auto Enthusiast on his way to make windows in his cars.

i have been experaminting with mixing mettalic colors in clear cote and shoting them though my airbrush, i did it with red and blue so far and all it does is tint the clear, so if you could mix mettalic black with clear cote and mist it on the windows from the inside maybe it whould work, hth.

I have been experimenting with spray and other methods of applying tint.. I normally use Tamiya smoke spray, but for my current project im giving the real auto tint a go, and it has turned out pretty good.. just make sure to apply about 5% washing up liquid to water, put in a sprayer, and then apply with a rubber eraser pushing outwards to prevent bubbles being trapped in the middle of the tint. it seems to work for me, and is a quick application.

Guess I'm lucky... The place I work has a tint shop right below and I can get all the free scraps I want. I've been thinking about putting the metalic-gold tint I have on a Supra I'm building (white with bright red interior... yea, it's the 2f2f model.), or if I should wait to use it for an SUV, Truck or Mini-Van.
Anyways... just use real tint from a tint shop, the shop where I work ALWAYS has tons of scraps in the dumpster... all shades.
