Front Main Bearing Replacement

I need to replace the front main bearing on my 89 SR5. I have a good idea about how to do it but I'm wondering if anyone has ever done it and can give me some "do this first" sort of things.

Thanks in advanced.

Re: Front Main Bearing Replacement

front main, you mean the number one main bearing that holds the crank?

Yes, the 4 piece main bearing. I heard that it's pretty easy to replace without removing the motor.

Re: Front Main Bearing Replacement

Sorry been on vacation, hmm, I have replaced the seal but not the bearing before, I would be cautiuos here, you normally replace the mains at the same time as you replace the rods, and then you would normally have the crank machined as well. in other words pretty much the bottom end.

What were you symptoms and how did you get to the conclusion that the front main is bad and not the others?
