Re: transmission service
I see you posted a while ago, so would think you either did the change already, or had a shop do it. Yes, you can change the fluid yourself. The drain plug is right below the transmission and there is no filter. Just drain and fill. Of course, just draining won't get all the transmission fluid out, but it's better than nothing. Fill back up with the Toyota type-IV fluid only. Don't use the Dexron III or anything like that.
Good luck. |

Re: transmission service
dont run additive's at all! and you dont need a tranny cooler it already has one and is efficient even here in vegas. use this fluid and no other your talking to a toyota tech here. and i dont even use their fluids but do use factory filters expecially the oil filter!http://www.valvoline.com/pages/produ...asp?product=64

regarding the aux cooler: are you referring to the cooler that goes through the radiator or is the cooler in the passenger side front fender also a tranny fluid cooler? so you are saying that the Valvoline Dexron product is the fluid to use? I was referring to this additive: http://www.lubegard.com/automotive/t..._platinum.html |

Re: transmission service
the one that goes through the radiator is the one im talking about. rember you dont want the trany fluid to be too cool. again no addditive's. and dont mess with the tranny they are strong and dont need to be played with. pluss if lex/toy dont make it for that car its not ment to be put on it. its a lexus rember! and yes valvoline dextron III atf is verry good stuff and if you would add any additives i recomend redline but that is usualy for manual tranys for loud chattering
