Sweet bliss

Is there anything in the automotive world more satisfying than a well-executed downshift?

At 1015 yesterday, I made the cleanest 4th-to-2nd downshift with the best rev-matching I think I've managed to date, just before a right-hander on the top of a downgrade freeway onramp.

Awesome! I can't recommend it enough!

Re: Sweet bliss

Goddamn I love that feeling. 4th, clutch in, throttle, 3rd, clutch out, let the compression take over, repeat performance for second then nail the corner.

Re: Sweet bliss

that is one part of it.. the other part is real drivers cannot afford to lose time waiting on the clutch.. to engage/disengage..

Re: Sweet bliss

although there has been a re-birth of auto trans in drag racing.. we were all commenting on the thrill of down-shifting in a real car with a real transmission.. as opposed to your seemingly prefered slush-box

Dayna, didn't you already partake in the butchering of one thread tonight? (with a little help, obviously)

Re: Sweet bliss

am i not allowed to state my opinion?

Anyway, you guys are helping..

besides.. anyone who has ever experienced the feeling that caused Jay to start this thread would be just as defensive about people bringing up auto's here..

As you know freakray, I own a scoobie too.. just hearing the boxer rumble and rev as i perform this same manuever daily on a hard sweeping right hand turn on the way to work everyday.. I am sure you know the feeling..
