First Street Race

So, i finaly got a race out here in the boonies between montreal and ottawa. I was waiting at a light, talking to a friend of a friend in the back seat who was saying my car, which is by the way a stock 2002 Pontiac Grand Am sedan with a V6) was weak so I started reving my engine. When I stopped I hear this engine rev beside me, i look over and see this blue sunfire with a guy lookin back at me. As soon as the light turns green, i floor the gas pedal and took off. I had a lead on him the whole way to the next light and just as i started to slow down to stop the light turned green and the sunfire pulled up beside me, so I floored it again and put a least a car length between us before we came to the next light. He gave me the thumbs up before turning off the main road. I'm happy I won my first race, but I dont think a 140hp sunfire was rly a challenge for my V6 and I dont think the race when above 100km/h. Since then some guys at school, who have a 96 Maxima, Subaru Outback and some kind of acura supposedly with 150hp, have challenged me to races so I'll post some updates on that later.

"some kind of acura supposedly with 150hp" ... INTEGRA GS-R has 170 so don't think that acura's have little power or that they cannot acheive good 1/4 mile times, same thing with honda's. and if its a TYPE R or a Turbo'd Teg than your in for an ass whoopin. but nice kill

Re: First Street Race

well good kill, lucky it wasnt a 2.4L DOHC, cause i know those can take a Grand Prix GT. But dont mock the I-4. Mine puts out 150 HP stock and my real advantage is that the car weighs less than 2700 lbs which makes for a real nice TQ-HP to weight ratio. Stock it can run high 15's. But GJ on the kill, i used to own a 2.2L cavy and it was semi quick, nothing to special.

Re: First Street Race

your lucky it was a 2.2 ohv (96whp) or possibly a 2.4(140whp) or ecotec(133whp) auto. A five speed Ecotec or 2.4 TC would have murdered you even if he was a mildly bad driver. Jayson can agree with me.

Re: First Street Race

140hp is a bit different when it's coming from an SR20 and sitting in a 2400lb SE-R...

Re: First Street Race

the 2.4L 150 HP Z24 can run high 15's stock. Combine that with really good low end torque and this car will take off really well off the line. The ecotec fan boys just wish they had z24s' thats why they alway say that it beats the z24. My z24 auto eats ecotecs like candy, manual and auto. Ecotec fanboys think that because they have 10 less crank HP that its a good engine, but it doesnt get its max Torque and HP untill a higher RPM band. ANd when your racing what RPM range do you spend most of the time in? low, as soon as you get to high RPMS you shift and the RPMS drop again. So many ecotec fanboys fail to realize this.

Re: First Street Race

actually i own an 88 and its been a very nice driving car, except the normal wear and tear, but for a 16 y/o car with only 105000 miles on it...it runs good
