Re: 5th gen sunroof rust
I worked in a body shop a long time ago but, if you can find a product called POR-15 do a search on the net you will find it, its the best thing out thair and i used it on my 88 and 97 and not a hint or rust come back and its on my rear wheel wells, if you dont wanna find a product like that and the rust is hidden, send it with some course paper like 380 grit to get rid of the loose stuff then go over it with 400grit and use a filler primer and them once the primer drys sand with 600 and paint your car colour....sounds kinda long but it has less chance of comeing back... if its exsposed rust like you can see it from the outside of the car make sure you mask off the area and do all thats above but clear coat it after then you will have to wet sand with 1000grit and make sure you dont brake threw the factory clear coat cuz then you will havve all kinds a shit to deal with, after sanding with 1000 find a fine cut polish or medium cut polish and polish the area then wax.....if you have questions msg me

it depends on how bad the rust really is. Like with my sunroof. it has some rust about 1 inch in the corner and it's bumpy. I think if I tried to repair it it would make a hole since the rust already ate through a bit.
