Heavy steering in R33

Hey all. This maybe a stupid question, but does the steering get heavy at high speeds in the R33? The reason i ask is because at a recent motokhana, i found the steering would fluctuate from being really heavy, to really light. Not really paying attention to the speedo at the time, but i bet the rear wheels were going pretty quick around some of the corners which is when i would have found the steering heavy.

If however, my theory is bullshit, could you please suggest what the problem might be.

Unfortuately a front wheel drive celica won on the day, so next time i might have to take it a little more serious. AKA, no more Blues Brothers parking attempts

I don't think the steering should be heavier as the speed increases. Nope, I don't notice my steering going lighter/heavier on high speed, on the track or otherwise. Something must be wrong somewhere.

Yeah i thought something must be wrong. But i also heard from a friend that my original theory was correct. Apparently, when power steering was first introduced into older cars, accidents would happen becuase the power steering was as sensitive on teh highway, as it was when you would be trying to do a reverse park in the city. He reckons that as speed increases, the power steeing decreases its load share.

I dont think you would notice it on the track or anywhere else, eccept a motokhana, or burnout fest. But even when your doing a burnout, you dont need to do as much steering as at a motokhana.

I do think something is wrong tho, but i cant find any evidence. And its such a wierd feeling, that im not too sure what it would be.

its true the R33 has speed sensititive (sorry for spelling ) steering. That means the fast you go the more feel for the wheel you get. The reason for this is to give a better feel for the steering when racing.

good man! Cheers for replying to that one. I havent been doing any motokhana since then so i havent really had a need to try find what the problem was, but now i know ;oD
