Transmission Ques.
Hey okay my friend has a 2002 lancer es. Well anyway he does a lot of higway driving and he has the auto(of course) hehe well his car revs really high, like almost 3+K when he is going 60+ MPH. I would like to know is there anyother lancer auto tranny that i could put in for him that has a shorter final gear. Hes really not into racing or anything. So if your going to say convert to manual its not really an option. I already asked the same thing. Hes just more into good gas mileage as opposed to power.
THANKS!!!! |

Re: Transmission Ques.
The bad part is the Lancer I think gets the poorest fuel economy in its class or close to it. Civics and Corollas get far better mileage. I guess you could compare a Lancer to maybe a Protoge, give or take a few mpg. It's still not bad but it could be better.
Tell him to drive a little slower? As far as I know all the Lancers are geared this way. |

Re: Transmission Ques.
Did you say your friend wants more gas millage? If he where to get a manual it would be more reliable and it would get better gas milage. Just because stick has more power it doesnt mean it would take more gas. Auto is like a system put in that basically shifts for you. So not only do you waste a little more gas, but you loose some power. Even if he isnt into racing (I dont know who would race a FWD Lancer) he should get a stick. Stick wasnt just made for racers.
