Air Filter
I was talking to my friend and he said he took off his air filter box on his car and now hes goin to get a K & N air filter for his. i was thinking about doing the same since i dont really have 200 for wizardair kit. cause i need money for my flowmasters. is it possible to take out the stock air box and just stick on a nice K & N cone air filter but still use the stock tubing that went from the throttle body to the box? couldnt i just match up the diameter and jsut get a clamp to clamp it on? thanks. if anyone has done it and has pics would be great! thanks ryan

Re: Air Filter
You can do it but the only downfall is the stock tubing is a little restrictive and also you will have to make some hangers to stablize it from moving around. If you want somthing cheap just to start out with,I bought a whole kit from ebay, the tube and a cheap filter which I later upgraded for a K&N.I paid about 30 bucks with shipping.Just an Idea, but I would just wait until you get the cash flow and do it right.

Re: Air Filter
WHAT!
All you need for an Fenderwell intake is 1. 7" or 9" cone filter -- I prefer www.Greenfilerusa.com 2. 2' - 3' section of Schedule 40 PVC pipe 3. a 60 degree bend for the PVC The 2-3' section goes into stock F-duct....tighten clamp 60 degree bend goes on the other end of PVC pipe....filter then raps around bend... you will have to unbolt some things in your fender but this is by far the best intake out there for the price! FYI....Most aftermarket intakes use your factory f-duct |

Re: Air Filter
I always thought that the 99 airbox flowed good when gutted. Cheap and easy to do.

Re: Air Filter
ok 1 more question. thanks for dealign with me. i saw this http://www.pfyc.com/store/merchant.m...y_Code=GPUNDER and see they dont have that plexi window. so whats the difference if i dont put one in? so basically... do i have to have that plexi wall? or is it like a support to hold the intake?

Re: Air Filter
Well from what I was told the more bends and angles in the intake tube the more restrictive it is,especially the F-duct because of all those ridges, the air tends to get caught up in there. The smoother and less bends from the air filter to the throttle body the better.Sometimes people get out of control and do all these turns and sharp corners trying to get the coldest air but are acually loosing horsepower and better off keeping the stock airbox.I removed the F-duct.On mine the intake tube is hooked up directly to the throttle body, from there a slight smooth angle to right above the headlight into a K&N filter. But everyone has there own preferences and designs.
