temp sensor on its way out??

ok, my car has been acting up lately, if i sit at a drive thru it over heats or says it is anyway, my resevior bottle is full of coolant as well, and one day when i was driving i punched it in 2nd and got it upto 5 grand before i shifted and i noticed the temp jumping up as it went from 3 grand to 5 grand, like it went from 1/2 upto about 3/4 then when i shifted it went back down, my fans working fine and everything, comes on when it has to. i'm puzzled as to whats going on, i dunno if my temp sensors messed up/messing up or not, lemme know if u have an idea, also, where is the temp. sensor located?

Re: temp sensor on its way out??

have you done any work that you drained any coolant? It sounds like either theres air in the system. at least thats what mine used to do when i had air in the cooling system.

heres a pic on how to bleed the system of air

you have to check the level of fluid in the rad, not just the overflow bottle, it could be your thermostat, check the rad, (when it has cooled down) my guess is that you will find it to be dry, or close to it
