Drifting my EVO on a nice rainy day in Japan
The other day a friend of mine and I decided to take advantage of a perfectly good rainy day and go drifting at our local drift track. You can drift all you want all day for 5,000yen. (about $50). Not a bad deal really.
I had been pretty bent against doing this with my Evo, but since it was raining and I have some crappy rally tires on it now I decided what the heck! My buddy brought out his GTS-T and we headed out to the track. I don't know how many of you have ever tried to drift an AWD car but let me tell you it exhausting! Coming in to one corner consists of the following steps. Line up the corner. Adjust speed. Turn early into the corner. Yank e-brake Once rear end is at proper angle release e-brake. Place car in first gear. Release Clutch and feather gas. Resist instinct to counter steer and keep wheels turned into corner until through it. Counter steer, hit second if necessary to maintain wheelspin. rinse and repeat...... After about 10 laps of this I had sweat running down my forehead and I could no longer lift hard enough on the ebrake break the rear loose. I have a couple great videos of this day but I don't have anywhere to host them and since they are bigger than 10mb, I can't email them anywhere. Any ideas guys? These vids are pretty good stuff. |

Re: Drifting my EVO on a nice rainy day in Japan
I think I would just use the brakes/gas, not the e-brake.

Re: Drifting my EVO on a nice rainy day in Japan
He was doing it in the rain, so probably low speed, 1st gear sounds about right to break traction w/ AWD...
