About To Buy a Murcielago But Would Like To Gather Some Thoughts...

Hi, my family is deciding on an exotic and we're pretty sure it will be a Murcielago. Before we make the purchase, we just wanted to get some facts and advice from owners before taking the plunge. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. What is a fair price for an '04 6.2L? Are there premiums over MSRP or are the dealers selling them at MSRP?

2. Any major differences between an '03 and an '04?

3. Is manual the way to go or the Egear? I've heard mixed thoughts on both.

4. How reliable is the 6.2L? Is it an easy car to drive/park? What are your pet peeves??? I understand parking is quite a challenge with previous models?

5. Should we buy one out of the showroom or order one? What's the upside to either or?

Thank you once more and I hope to join the Lambo club very soon.

Hi have just baught a new Murcielago, and hoe i can help you.

1. You can get one for about $270,000

2. Nope

3. I got Manual, and its problem free

4. So far its pretty reliable, no problems yet, I dont have trouble parking it.

5. It depends, if the dealer has exactly what you want get it there if not order one, for example if you would want a green with green interior you would probably have to order one.

Hope this helps

ethical, thank you for your reply. My main concern is visibility. For the Diablo, and Countach I understand it is very poor and reverse parking into a spot can be quite challengi! Also, do you have a dealer I could recommend? Perhaps PM me for details? Thanks so much.

1. MSRP should be around $280,000, depending on options. Premiums vary depending on whether or not you are buying from an authorized lamborghini dealer, or a third party independent dealer.

2. The Murciélago remains primarily unchanged for '04, except for the option of an E-Gear transmission.

3. Depending on your level of ability, E-Gear may be the option for you. Highly skilled drivers generally dislike paddle-shift transmissions because it limits your control over what the car and engine are doing. Rookie drivers may benefit from a paddle-shift transmission, because it eliminates the risk of improper shifting. So this just depends on how confident you are in your abilites as a driver. One thing nice about E-Gear is that it allows you to switch to a fully automatic mode if you get tired of shifting.

4. Since I don't own a Murciélago, I can only tell you what I have learned from other sources. Quality has gotten much better over previous Lamborghinis since the Audi takeover. If you buy the car new, the warranty should cover any problems that may arise. The Murciélago is suppose to be the easiest V12 Lambo to drive to date. Previous Lambos had very heavy clutches and shifting was difficult. The new Murciélago is supposed to have a very soft clutch and transmission. Parking shouldn't be too challenging, but backing out of...lets say the garage...may be. Due to limited rear visibility, it may be necessary to open the door and look out that way while backing out.

5. That all depends. It may be cheaper and more convenient to buy one off the showroom floor. Obviously, the upside to ordering one is the ability to choose various options. The downside is that you may have to wait a while until you take delivery on your car. Either way, buying from an authorized Lamborghini dealer is the way to go.

I hope that I have assisted in making your decision easier. If you do decide to buy a Murciélago, I hope that you will continue to post here at the forums, and share your experience with us.

Call Chris at Lamborghini Atlanta, tell him you want one as mine. Go to FerrariChat.com to see pictures, do a search. I cannot post pictures here. It is worth your time. I have a Maranello 575 and my wife has an 04 Murcie. Get the 04. If you have questions email me at [email protected] but first check that web site for all my posts. It will answer most questions one may have.

Hey MalkaJB and aehaas, thank you for your information. It truly is helpful. Oh, I've read in other threads about the rear tail lamps getting foggy? Is this true??? Thanks again for the support and if we do go forward, you can bet pics will be up!

Re: About To Buy a Murcielago But Would Like To Gather Some Thoughts...

I saw one '03 Murcie that had fog in one of the tail lights. They were both replaced by the factory when he got his 1,500 mile service at Lamborghini Orlando.

Do not worry. Lamborghini will take care of you.

In the Bay Area, there are only exotic car stores. Are they a safe place to buy?

Third party dealers are probably safe, but like I said in my earlier post, an Authorized Lamborghini Dealer is your best bet.

In the Bay Area, I would suggest Lamborghini of San Francisco. Here is their website: http://www.bmcd.com

They are an Authorized Lambo Dealer.

BTW, why does it say you are from LA in your profile, if you are from the Bay Area?

Oh, and I forgot to mention that Lamborghini Palo Alto is another Authorized Lamborghini Dealer in the Bay Area.

Re: About To Buy a Murcielago But Would Like To Gather Some Thoughts...

i've been to Lamborghini Palo Alto, unfortunely it was a Sunday so they were closed, but my dad went back the last time he was in the area and they were very nice to him even though they knew he wouldn't buy a car, they took him in back and showed him a Murc they were fitting a aftermarket exhaust on and everything

So wantone, just wondering, any updates on the Murciélago situation?

Have you seen anything that you like in particular?
