It just depends on what your tastes are? Arguments can be made for each one and arguments can be made against each one, so it all depends on what your personal tastes.

i bet if you searched in this forum, you'd find the answer.

awd, big power, you can OWN in the 1/4, on a road course, and you CAN drift an awd car...

(you could have a quicker 1/4 in rwd cars, but the handling would suffer)

the best all around drive train is either:
AWD
or
very well tuned RWD (such as a zo6)

but when you drift an fwd car don't you lose speed or it isnt as good as drifting a FWD. I doubt someone would enter a drift race with a fwd car. I have some videos of fwd cars.. and it doesn't look as good as rwd cars. I dunno its IMO. back to subject.

I'd say the best all around drivetrain would be a ATTESA-esque AWD/RWD setup

Then RWD, then AWD. No votes for FF

attessa esque?
what about the awd in the diablo, or audi's system, or porsche's?
all good systems...

i like the skyline (r33) in that you can chip the ecu so you can adjust the f/r bias for power, so you can make it fully rwd, but you can do that in any properly designed awd car (with some dollas spent on it)

Re: FWD vs. RWD vs. AWD..Does it really matter?

that is one good thing with todays awd systems. the driver can have the system send all the power to the rear wheels. but one thing that awd will always have in a disadvantage is the weight.

comparatively, it's not that bad, and honestly, you just add more power, which overcomes the weight issue...

Does it matter for what?

Have you ever tried driving a 2200 lb. RWD car in 3 inches of snow? It isnt happening.
