gauges not working

My speedo and RPM's do not work all the time. Sometimes they work but they are starting not to work all the time. The lights are also burnt out, What do I need to replace and how do I do it. If someone can point me in the right direction that would help.

Re: gauges not working

What year? Dash disassembly is best done with a good manual, I suggest Bentley.

Re: gauges not working

Do they both quit & start working again at the same time?

Re: gauges not working

yeah, onetime I was driving and they just clicked on, but most of the time when I start the car and they do not work, they will not click on. but if one is out so is the other.

Re: gauges not working

The speedo & tach get info from different sources to run. I suspect the problem is in the instrument cluster itself. It has a small internal module that controls these functions. When you have the cluster out for the lights I would check & clean the electrical connector thoroughly, if that doesn't fix it you will probably have to find another cluster unit.
