Re: Hybrids claiming false gas mileage

It's the EPA that gives the wrong claims. Auto manufacturers don't list mileage. The EPA always has better mileage than you will ever get.

Re: Hybrids claiming false gas mileage

I've heard from owners of the Prius hybrids getting 40mpg or so. It depends on how you drive if you're the average jackass driver who's allways going 20mph over the speedlimit - don't expect great gas mileage!
Although even at 40mpg it seems to be a waste, my '82 Toyota got about 38mpg without hybrid technology. But even if so, it's alot better than many things they could be driving.

Re: Hybrids claiming false gas mileage

it all depends on the driver, if you drive really soft, it can get you really good gas mileage, we were at the dealer and we were test driving, and my mom kinda started fast on the stoplight cause she likes more of a faster start, and the guy just said it defeats the whole purpose, so its really not all that wrong, its just the drivers, but your better off getting the jetta TDI wich is deisel if ya dont know, and gets about 50mpg

hmmm my gs-r was rated at 27 highway I believe and I get 29 on the highway 11 years later no less. And I do not drive it easy by any means. That guy must drive that hybrid like a beast to only get 31 mpg on the highway with it.

Re: Hybrids claiming false gas mileage

That's pathetic really. He's averaging less than I did in my Sentra, and back then I drove with a lead foot and averaged about 85-90 on the freeway. Still got 32-35 mpg a tank. And once on a trip where I didn't speed (as much) I averaged 42 mpg. And that car cost $2500. Whereas your average hybrid costs $2500 more than a comparable car with a conventional engine.

Yeah. Bad times for Honda and Toyota, and it seems to be all the EPA's fault...

Re: Hybrids claiming false gas mileage

LOL failing again arn't those lil fugly boxs. Best i've ever gotten was 53mpg in my hatch back and shes 13 years young. much cheaper and more fun to drive.
What a sham so there we go there not even saving the earth. Those cars dethrone the XB as stupidest fugly rides out there

Re: Hybrids claiming false gas mileage

wut does everyone have against the xb? it looks great, and i think eventually all companies are gunna start that look, and people will get used to it, may think of it as stupid, but really i do, and if everyone thinks its a stupid car and is ugly, then it will be rare in a couple years, then if you own one it'll be worth more.

Re: Hybrids claiming false gas mileage

^ xBs are ugly, they're just boxy pieces of crap IMHO. No style, just a big box on wheels designed to carry ravers around. Anyways my friend keeps boasting about hybrids, they're slow and boring, and now that they don't even save much gas, expensive as shit for what they are worth.
