Engine Swap ??......Tranny advice

Tossed a rod in sohc......Bummer......Anyway lookinh at a b16 a and a b18c5 to replace it with.......Now my question is two fold in its purpose. How can you tell the b16a1 from the 16a2 and 3? As for the tranny......will the tranny from behind my sohc work on the above motors?.......
If anyone has a good motor for sale drop me a line.

Yeah, you can't run a D-series tran like kersten said. And as for the tranny question, the b16a1 had the cable trans, while the later models had the LSD trans. Good luck with the swap.

Re: Engine Swap ??......Tranny advice

will your d16a1 trany work with what? The D16Y8? It should bolt on to any D series motor. Is it an auto tranny or manual? BTW, D16A1 is the 87-89(?) Integas right?

Re: Engine Swap ??......Tranny advice

so you want the D16A1 tranny on your D16Y8? It should work being both D-series motors, but the D16A1 tranny uses a cable clutch if I'm not mistaken, that means you have to convert from hydraulic to cable and you have to buy an adapter from Hasport. Not worth the trouble IMO.
