shaving 96-00 civic trunk and IS300 tails

hey i was thinking of shaving my inner lights on the back of my 97 civic and inserting some IS300 tails...any of you done this before?...what's a good way to do it...and is it hard to mount the IS300 inner tails? (the circles)
if you have pictures that would be great...or maybe step by step...
i know basically i plan on welding...then bondo...(or metal to metal) etc etc.....
anything i should watch out for?..or be careful of?...or make sure to do??

also...i want to shave the license plate area...i was thinking of getting a bumper that holds the plate....but then i thought it'd be cool to french it in towards one of the sides maybe..(on the trunk after shaved) but then that would be hard considering i would be cutting into parts that i just welded on...anyone got any ideas?...or is it way too hard to shave the trunk and make it look good...

thankz...
97 civic

be careful not to weld it too hot because you will warp your trunk and that'll be really fucked up. It is hard and if you're not very familiar with doing fine art welding/finishing then I wouldn't even try if I were you. I've tried a few times and I still couldn't get it just right and had to have my body man help me finish them. Good luck though.

when in doubt leave it to a pro. itll cost you less to have him do it then try it, fuck up and then send it to the pro.

Well I'm not exactly sure how the lights are shaped so I dunno. Do you think you could find a pic of the light off of the vehicle?

if your hell bent on tryin this and willing to fuck you trunk by heating it therefor warping and oil-canning it..then since you have no clue what your doing then i dont think molding a custom fiberglass panel made to house the is 300 inners is going to be logical for you to do! Just buy the lights along with the deck lid from a salvage yard and using a wiz wheel cut the sections of panel that house the lights and back weld that into your existing open area...then fiberglass over the front sanding it back with 80grit and build it up..then using 180grit smoothg it out and use a primer filler....dude if you have to ask how to do it, then DONT DO IT ! theres a reason why us body guys make so much money...it takes skill

ok ok...you make a good point...but i DID succesfully shave my door handles...

but i got a question...maybe it's a dumb question..but what do you think about melting in a quarter inch thick piece of plastic....it's easier to shape. easier to melt on...(without warping the trunk) and it would be easier to creat a housing in... (maybe more like plexyglass...not really plastic) i worked at a sign shop for quite a while...so i'm pretty good at working with that stuff.....
the only problem i can see is that if it's not perfectly SOLID in there..(no chance of jiggling) then the bondo could eventually crack (which would suck ass...)

well...what do you think?...

by the way..check out this awesome link...some dude made his own dash at home..lol

pretty crafty if u ask me...
