The theft light is flashing on my 2000 SE so I can't start the engine. I tried both sets of keys and the same thing happens. So assuming the chances are slim that both keys haven't lost their programming, what else could it be?
Thanks |

Re: Theft light flashing - can't start?
Nothing, you have to get the keys reprogrammed. It may be a fault with the PATS module but it sounds like the keys got erased.

Re: Theft light flashing - can't start?
Turns out that it wasn't exactly in Park (a tiny wee bit out of Park) when we were trying to start the engine. I know that's probably hard to believe but it's true! As soon as we shift out and back into Park it starts.
Could this be a sensor problem with the gears? Thanks |

Re: Theft light flashing - can't start?
The only sensors that would give you a problem would be the transmission range sensor or the shift interlock. But I think it may have just been that the shifter needs to be firmly in it's resting or park position. Good that you got back on the road.
