Head Gasket Replacement
Has anyone changed a head gasket on the 88-91 1.5? If so did you follow the manual or did you leave some stuff attached to the head to save time. I'm fixing to have to change mine (blowing antifreeze into the cylinder). I'm looking for the quickest easyest method. Also about how long does it take to change it, I'm expecting around 3 hours if i follow the manual, It looks like I can leave the intake manifold attached and save some time. Thanks for any information.
PS its a 88 Civic DX 2 dr hatch. |

Re: Head Gasket Replacement
all i have to say is take your time. there is an attachment you get for your drill to remove the old gasket. i dunno what it's called. it works really good, you just have to remember to keep moving. stay in 1 place too long and stuff can heat up and become warped.
i would send you a link to the manual but it sounds like you already have some sort of one already

Re: Head Gasket Replacement
Yeah I have a service manual, I prefer to use hand gasket scrapers rather than power ones. I'v been working on car for many many years but I just recently got into import stuff.
