umm no it wouldnt work, the only way it could be done is like a 4x4 truck, and it wont even be worth it, youd be better off with a little tire spin then all that extra weight of a front axle and transfercase etc..

Actually yes, it's simple. Get a 4x4 S10 for parts. Cut your firewall, move your engine back about 18", use your tranny, change the tailshaft to fit an S10 transfer case (which means you'll be cutting your floor), make a tunnel for the front driveshaft (after you have it made) again cutting your floor, mount the S10 IFS a little higher on the frame than it was on the truck, then have your 6 inch rear drive shaft made. Should probably flip a couple bucks for a Vette rear, after cutting your floor. Work out the 2 or 3 bugs you'll have with the whole thing, and then you'll have to cut the floor for a full frame. When it's all said and done you'll have a badass awd one-of-a-kind 2 sear bird with a 4 foot steering column and you can't reach the radio. Oh, and cut a hole in the floor for the t-case shifter.

Yes, I made it all up as I went.

No, it wasn't worth it.

Yes, that's why it's never been done before.

Re: All wheel drive for a 98 trans am

even with all that your front suspension will not work with a front axle you would need a complete front end off a truck and why put in a vette rear?

Re: All wheel drive for a 98 trans am

the stuff out of the old eclipses and the subarus are nice but have you been under your car lately? you would need to lift the car at least a few inches and then youd still have to find places to fit everything. then look at the spindals on the cars you would have to custon make something in thier that would be able to support a drive shaft, or find something that fits these cars get it on thier somehow and ...... the list just goes on and on and on.... the easiest way to do it would be to get a k5 blazer take the car apart and custom mount the body to the blazer frame. then lower the suspension on the blazer so that the car almost looks like a normal fbody.

I didn't pay attention to what year the car was, so forget the Vette rear and i said 4x4 S10 IFS (front axle). The K5 would be OK, if you channeled the floor about 8" around the frame.
