no power to ignition switch... HELP!!

I drive a classic corvette in the summer and was in need of winter transport (my last winter car became way to expensive to own it was a 93 cavalier need i say more?) Well i looked through the paper and found a 91 sonoma with a 6 1/2 foot meyers blade, BONUS, 4x4 AND plow!!) well i have not had a lot of problems with it until i left it sit for a couple weeks right after i picked up the corvette from storage. i went to get it and the thing appeared to have a dead battery at first glance. no power to anything on the column, no lights on the dash, no wipers, no turn signals nothing, so i was about to jump it and when i hooked the cables up to the (presumed dead) s-10 i bumped the other ends together and got a shower of sparks. soooooo i tried the headlights and they work fine, the horn blows. The plow motor does not work but it too is through the ignition switch. i fumbled with the switch turning it slow while pushing it in and pulling it out and i never got a hint of power to it... i thougt if the switch itself was bad i would get somthing at some point considering it had worked just fine up until then... any ideas? I also checked all the fuses and the wireing i can see, i shook the cables with the switch in the on position in hopes of hearing a relay click or somthing and i got nada... any ideas? large caliber hand gun? shotgun? lol do i need to have it put down?

Got It!!

Well this is a new twist on the whole subject! I was going over the fuse box with a multimeter and everything pretty much was dead, brake lights, anything thats on the key i knew was dead but the brake lights too? well they were so i start t the battery... i ad power to the junction on the firewall, i had power to the alternator and starter, i had power out of the alternator.. then i noticed the fusable links on 2 wires out of the alternator... had power on both sides on one and not out of the other so i tugged at it a little and the wire came out in my hand it was not burnt... it was coroded all the way through!!! i cut the link out, made a jumper and bam the wipers, blower and buzzer, radio etc. all whirred into life. so if anyone else has this happen check those damn things they are right in front just off the alternator!
