Question Modulator valve on 98 cherokee?

I've got a 98 cherokee 4.0 and have transmission fluid leaking somewhere. I discovered it when I was pulling an unloaded trailer down the interstate and saw white smoke behind me. I pulled over and noticed it coming up by the front passenger door. I looked underneath and saw transmission fluid all over the trans pan and crossmember. I have been checking the fluid level but have lost no more since then. Someone told me that I needed to change my modulator valve, but I have no idea where it is or how to change it. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to change the valve? Thanks.

HI, SOUNDS LIKE YOU MAY HAVE BEEN OVER FULL, THE LEVEL ON THEM IS HALF WAY BETWEEN THE FULL MARK AND THE ADD MARK CHECKED ENGINE RUNNING, RUN THRU ALL THE GEARS SO IT WILL EQUALIZE. LEVEL SHOULD BE BETWEEN THE TWO HOLES AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE DO--NOT --OVERFILL DALE
