Hey all....
I own a Tamiya TL01 subaru Impreza 2001 model. It is basically stock (bought it as a kit....) Only thing I added was an Eco27 and new set of wheels (carlson). I really want to go a bit faster so I was wondering wether a tamiya RS540 was a good hop up and wether a Super Stock Motor Type-R (23 Turn) 27000 RPM would be much better for £20. I would need to buy an Mtrornik 12T ESC at £22. Would a Ball racing set be usefull ? Would it reck my engine and parts if I didnt use one ? And what does a stabiliser set do ? My other question is Would a TL01 Speed-Tuned Gear Set be good ? does it change the number of teeth compared to the normal gears ? and does a lightweigt chassis make a good improvement in performance ? thanks. |

Re: Tamiya TL01 hop ups
The RS540 motor has 21,000 RPM and the other one you said has 27,000. While my opion i would go for the RS540. But the ESC is a good pick. Nice and cheap and can handle down to 12T if you want to go down that far. And the bearings are a great pick. They make you car go quicker. The Sway bars help to keep the car leval if you are racing. Then you asked about the gears. Well you can change the grear ratio if you have to. I can't rember if up is more speed. (more teeth. And down is in more accelation. (less teeth.)

Re: Tamiya TL01 hop ups
thanks....
I just saw a Trinity Monster Horsepower Stock Motor 27t-24 degree for £21 and that woudl be good because I could keep my ESC. (eco27 dirt cheap... ) But i dont know how it would perform compared tothe RS540.... it is also 21,000 rpm. |

Re: Tamiya TL01 hop ups
So it is better than the RS540 by tamiya ?
Do oil shocks help with handling much ? because they are £13 a pair.... Can someone explain all these oils for shocks 20WT and 30WT goes up to 60WT.... |

Re: Tamiya TL01 hop ups
Yes im my opion it would be better. The oil shock do help the car handle better. The friction. (ones on your car now) are slow and don't help you much. But once you get the oil shocks the car would handle alot better.

Re: Tamiya TL01 hop ups
well the lower the number. Say like 20WT is the lighest and thinest. While the 60WT is the heavest and thickest. Lighter oil is used in off road cars and trucks to soak up the bumps of the track while the heaver oil is used in on-road cars. So your Tamiya would use any were between 45WT to 60WT. Depends on the set up you are looking for.

Re: Tamiya TL01 hop ups
I am bit confused about motors.... The trinity Monster Horsepower Stock Motor 27t-24 degree is the same price (bit cheaper) and RPM as
the 19T chameleon motor from trinity but doesnt more Turns mean less battery time ? what about this motor : Trinity Monsters of Touring Electric Motor (MOT215) so which one would perform best on my car ? |

Re: Tamiya TL01 hop ups
More turns means more battery life. While this means more torque. Lesser number of turns. I.E. a 10T makes less toqure but more power. A more turn motor is easier to controll.

Re: Tamiya TL01 hop ups
Short and easy answer. Any motor that has fewer turns is going to be quicker. Just make sure you gear the car right.

Re: Tamiya TL01 hop ups
What about the motors that are like 19T double and 17T triple ?
and I thought RPM where the speed so the Trinity Monster Horsepower Stock Motor 27t-24 degree is a 21,000 which is the same as the 19T trinity motor. So which one is faster the 19T ? http://www.teamtrinity.com/motors/motorspecs.asp here it says that the 19T Chameleon 2 Pro has more power. This means power as in pure power and force ? But I dont need much of that in my TL01 ? |

Re: Tamiya TL01 hop ups
The duble and triple mean the number of winds the motor has. I can't rember what it fully means.

Re: Tamiya TL01 hop ups
If the RPM's of a motor are the same. THen they go at the same speed ? right ? and then you ahve the power but that only matters for offroad or pullign stuff.... What difference will that make in a TLo1 ?
