99 Maxima could not start

It ran fine then suddenly I could not restart it after parked at my friend's house. The engine cranks when I turn the ignition key, but it could not run. I got a new 5 months old battery. I checked all fuses. Since my car uses security key, the one with chip built inside the key from Nissan. Both of my key and spare could not start. I just wonder if the recoginzed code has been messed up. Does the key need to re-programed? I manually read the Service Engine Soon flash code, it read as "1401" and " 1402". Does any one know about these codes? I could not find them in Haynes book or on the website.

Re: 99 Maxima could not start

I finally towed my car to a Nissan dealer. This is a frustrated problem since only dealer can figure out right. Yes, my car key code has been messed up. As I mentioned earlier, my key has a programmable microchip built-in. The dealer re-programmed it, then it starts fine. My advice is, instead of adding a security system option from a dealer, I would go for an after market which I could prevent for this ridiculous problem. If a wrong key inserted in, it is good not allow the engine to start but it should not mess up the code. Just think about, if you have kids, or if you lend your car to your relative with a key chain. You would have high chance that your kid or relative could put a wrong key in. Then it will mess up the code again.... yet each time will cost $80 or more for re-programming the key.
