Re: universal joint damage

How much lift does he have?

Has he done a SYE?

Re: universal joint damage

Rear axle spline? I'm assuming he means the yoke coming out of the front of the rear differential and not the axle splines that are internal of the differential.

The SYE (Slip Yoke Eliminator) is corrects the driveline angle of the rear driveshaft. A tall lift can cause binding and possibly breakage.

Sent you an email.

Re: universal joint damage

Maybe he needs to point the rear 3rd member directly towards the output of the transfer case. This is done by "cheese-wedge" shims between the rear axle and the spring mounting plates. If his 3rd member is paralell to the ground, a lift kit will increase the driveshaft angle enough to break u-joints. Another fix is to drop the transfer case one and a half inches by using 6 spacers between the skidplate and the frame.
