Like many mechanics have told me: washing your engine is perfectly fine, just wait for it to air out.
So I decided to spray my engine down with degreaser and then scrub it out with a brush and hose it down. I did this, let the car sit overnight. When I came out the next morning to drive it it sounded normal. Then when I started to drive it, I get this puttering sound and feeling everytime I step on the gas. Anyway to determine whether it is water in the engine? I have another feeling it could be my spark plugs. But I'm not sure. This sucks! I have lighting problems and now this. |

Re: Water in Engine?
Sounds like the leads are loose.

Leads to what? Spark Plugs?
I checked those yesterday too. But I didn't check the plugs. |

Re: Water in Engine?
Funny, I have the same sound coming from my engine. Today I bumped the tip of my muffler into a curb while parking and the noise started. It happens only when it is in gear and the engine is running above 1500 rpm. I can rev the engine in neutral and nothing happens. I noticed the same type of noise before only after driving through a big puddle, but that would end soon after. Now (after bumping the muffler) the noise doesn't stop...
Anyone have suggestions as to what is making the noise? |

you can try to check the spark plug cable & the distributor, maybe there are still water trapped in there. wipe the water or you can try to spray the connection with WD40.

Re: Water in Engine?
Thanks. I went and got a repair done on my exhaust system and that fixed the problem!
