head unit help
my firebird has an 8 speaker 500 watt sound system with a monsoon head unit. sometimes the volume control doesn't work and my display screen doesn't work. can a new headunit take away power or lessen the sound quality? because i wanna replace it.

Re: head unit help
Did he put a Monsoon head on a Bose sound system...the earlier LT1's came with Bose units if he put a Monsson in its place it could be giving you problems. I have monsoon and I have trouble wih my volume control all he time. As does my mom in her Grand Am, and thats not even a monsoon....I use the controls on the steering wheel, usually they are more responsive than the head unit. Do you mean you wanna go after market head unit or stock replacement?

Re: head unit help
thier are no subs in the stock system
the amp may be 500 watts but its not 500 watts a channel. a good head unit will give you better sound than your stock one. but it wont drive as many channels. it depends on how you wire it as to wich speakers you will have running.
