Anyone change the manifold gaskets themselves?

I just spent the last three day tearing the engine apart to change the upper & lower intake manifold gaskets on my 1999 Grand Am GT V6. Well when I went to start it, gas was leaking from the fuel rail intake. I can’t seem to get the gas intake tube to sit firmly into the fuel rail. When I pulled the intake tube from the fuel rail I don’t remember seeing an O-ring, but maybe it fell out. Is there an o-ring? Is there a special tool? The Haynes manual isn’t very helpful.

Any tips would be appreciated.

thanks

I usually dont remove the fuel lines from the rail, just pull the entire assembly out of the way, but yes I believe there is an "o" ring right there.
Also, did you install the push rods in the proper location? they are 2 different sizes and if they are installed in the wrong position, you will be pulling heads off to replace bent valves.

Thanks for the response.

The O-ring must of fallen off when I pulled the fuel intake from the rail. If was very hard to pull out of the rail.

When I removed the push rods I laid them on my bench in the exact order and direction (rocker arm/lifter) as removed.

I’ll head down to the dealer and pick up the o-ring.

Thanks for the help.
