failed attempt at stripping paint
Everything else is perfect and ready to go except for the body
I haven't touched it for months and now that I have more free time I decided to finally complete the model. The problem lies in the remaining paint in the crevices and lines of the body. Anyone have an idea of how I can fix this? Or is it just better to reorder another body? This was dipped in Pine Sol, and the plastic started feeling brittle so i took it out. I have heard about Castrol Super Clean and brake fluid, but will these melt the plastic? Any inputs would help, thanks Some pics: ![]() ![]()

Re: failed attempt at stripping paint
Gently run the tip of a toothpick through the crevices. Often, the bond between the paint and plastic has been weakened, but the geometery of the surrounding plastic is holding those little bits in place. You may be able to knock them loose with some coaxing.

Re: failed attempt at stripping paint
if you got the paint from tamiya just take a candy color and paint it. after tat put a nother color that match the candy coulor paint over it.lets say tha you put clear gold you spray it after take red and spray it over the red to make it look good

I keep hearing wonderful things about brake fluid (not brake cleaner).

I've had more success with CSC than brake fluid (not brake cleaner). Just my
.That said, stubborn paint sure is stubborn. |

A warning about brake fluid! Stay with dot 3 or lower, I tried dot 4 and it shure took of the paint in a hurry. The problem was that it took the body to
It melted the plastic about halfway through so now I have a Lotus Europa with everything but the bodypanels. The upside of this is that I can tell everybody else what happend so you wan't do the same mistake as I did and I have a lot of spareparts for the next on I buy. Some sort of alcohol takes acrylic paints away swift and easy, Mr. Muscle owen cleaner does the job just fine on enamels, but not on Tamiya spray colors. Don't know anything but brakefluid for that one.Niclas |

Re: failed attempt at stripping paint
hey guys I just dipped the body in Castrol Super Clean, but I remember a guy melting his Ferrari Modena 360 body from CSC. I'm a little worried since the body isn't completely covered with paint and that the CSC will melt the model too
any suggestions as to how long I should leave it?btw - make sure you wear gloves ahahah |

Re: failed attempt at stripping paint
The amount of time you leave the body in CSC shouldn't matter, you'll probably want to leave it in for at least a day though.

Re: failed attempt at stripping paint

Re: failed attempt at stripping paint
Although... Make sure you get the right stuff. Castrol has a couple products branded "Casrtol Super Clean." You want to buy the cleaner/degreaser and nothing else.
