What is it

There is a box, for the lack of a better term, in the front of my 98 TDI.
It is under what appears to be a cannister. The box has several hoses running from it. I think it has something to do with power steering.
The box is leaking fluid, which I believe to be p.s. fluid. Any one have a clue?
