98 Isuzu rodeo...fuel gauge not reading properly

I have a 98 Rodeo that I had a remote starter installed in Jan 04. Since then, the fuel gauge has been reading improperly and I had to have the solenoid pack in the transmission replaced at a $700 hit. Is it possible the transmission damage was caused by the installation of the remote starter? I've seen a lot of complaints, starting with the long term review by edmunds regarding fuel gauge and sensor problems. Is there an easy fix, maybe a loose wire or something? I'm hurting for $ so I'm hoping it is something I can do myself. Can anyone help?

yes your remoter started could of fried the solenoid pack. Isuzu recomends you do not install any aftermarket remote starters due to problems.

The gas guage is a 36 dollar fix, but you will have to drop the gas tank. The cheap fix is to just use your trip odomitor and every 250 miles fill up with gas.
