Lightbulb Different style contest.

Ok so I got this cool idea for a contest. I know, I know, there is already one going on, but this is a bit different. This is one I've derived from my love for hot rods. SO...Let me explain the rules. The contest is to design your own hot rod based on a design, so do not copy a foose design, Coddington design, or anyone else's design. You must post the original image, unless it was derived completely from your sick and twisted caverns you call a "mind"...JK, so anyway, here are contest rules:

First, it'll be due on july first, 2004.
2. It must be completely done by hand. There will be photoshop permitted to those who want to touch up their drawings. But...you must post/pm the before PS (photshop) and and PS. just so I know you didn't cheat.
3. You MAY use another design to give you ideas. But I do not want to see a car completely designed by foose/coddington/other as your entry.
4. It can be in black and white or colour
5. there will be an amutar/professional leauqe. So you don't have to whine about asaenz or stuffbyalex (OR KustmAce:P)beating you. Because they'll be in a different leauge all together.
6. Post your if you are competing in this thread. I will see all who is in and give them a league. if you do not agree which league yo are in,, feel free to pm me with your complaint.

Finally, the car rules.
1. It may be car or a truck.
2. It is a hot rod, not street Rod, that means a car from 1899 (benz three wheeler) to the 1950's (1955 Chevy)
3.If you are late then I will not except it.
4.It may have a backgorund. Remember, I'm not voting, so it may distinguish weither you win or not.
5. I'm giving you lots of time, so use it. Do a custom paint job, wheels, and overall car.
6. Please! Make it look like a Hot Rod...

Finally, there is not prize, except braging rights and if someone wants to make a banner for the winner they can. I can't do it because I lack photoshop

Anyway, GOT TO IT!!!

Re: Different style contest.

Ok, here we go:

I can feel a flame-war coming on, so I'm gonna clear this up right now.

There are seven basic categories for old cars:

Classic-Stock, as it appeared in the showroom when it was new. Years don't really matter on this, except that it should be at least like 10 years old. The big thing is that its restored.

Hot Rod-Any car pre-muscle car era. A hot rod is not a trailer queen. They are built to be driven.

Street Rod-Same years as Hot Rod, but they are generally built to be shown. Often dripping in Billet, Street Rods are often very high dollar rods.

Rat Rods-My personal favorite, they are hot rods from the wrong side of the tracks. Usually very low-budget, just....badass cars.

Muscle-If you dont know a muscle car, well...here you go. Very simple to figure out: after 1964.

Then of course, the Trailer Queens- I do not like trailer queens. These would include cars similar to what Boyd Coddington builds. Very, very high dollar. Often they are replica bodies. They are not built to be driven. They are show, period.

I was a little hesitant to put this in, but hey, why not?
Lowrider-Just like the name says, very low. Often with small rims with hundreds of gold or silver spokes pouring out. Can be any years.

Then of course you can combine man of these to get smaller, subcategories, like retro-rods, classic muscle, lead sleds, etc. But I wont get into those. I think these are the basics. So, thare ya go.

See how bored I am??

Re: Different style contest.

Oh shit. I am so happy. I love Hot Rods and I was planning on making a contest just like this. I just started designing a hot rod yesterday, can I please use it? I havent actually drawn the car, just really rough design sketches.

I AM SO HAPPY! I'm bouncing off the walls now.

The first one in the hot rod section is a 50 Mercury. And I'll get you the Mustang in a sec.

Re: Different style contest.

Yeah Mike, you can use it. I am so surprised that so many people are interested in this. I thogu hi would get like only 2 replies throughout the whole contest. Now I've got 5 entries (including me) by the first day! Ok, let's clear this up. Mike, your in pro with Kustm and I. Tokes, not sure really, PM me with which catagory you want to be in. Jeep, you'll be in amature for now, k? PM me if you disagree. Oh yeah. Let's clear one thing up here. You guys may do a hot rod or street rod, of course going on Kustm Aces explanation. I was actually classifying a street rod as a Post 1960's era car that is designed to go fast. But...

Since a hotrod and street rod are basically the same according to Kustm, let's say you can make and all show all go car and call it a Shot Rod...lol, but yes, you can do as mixture of both or one of the 2. I don't know if I make sense, but there you go. Kustm, if you want, do a rat rod. But remember, 1959 is the max year allowance. Maybe a '55 Chevy?

Re: Different style contest.

Oh yeah, and you CAN do more than one. I am doing 2-3 myself. Already got 1 ready for colour.
One's a roadster, one's a coupe and one is a special surprise. Ahh, hell, I am going to do one in full B and W. Some surprise huh?
