|
Popping windows
I have a 98 eclipse and everytime i go to rolldown my windows they make a loud popping noise. Is this common or is it just my car? Anyone know what the problem is and know how to fix it?

my windows do the same thing. as long as yours are manual windows and not power windows then i think its a normal thing.

the popping is probably caused by the windows seating in the trim. it puts pressure on the window (they're curved) and "seals" the window. when you roll it down, the pressure is released and the windows go back to being more curved. it is possible that things could have warped over time (these cars are getting old) but I wouldn't think it would be anything to get worried about. as long as they don't leak, or break. you're good to go.

Mine does that. I found the source of my problem. My window goes over the seal instead sitting in it like its supposed to. That makes it stand straight, then when you roll the window down the window goes off of the seal and curves again which makes the popping noise.
