Question Possible Type R Killer?

Check this out guys! Volkswagen has released (currently for the US market only, not on Canada's site) the Beetle Turbo S. It has a 1.8 litre turbocharged, 4 cylinder, 5 valves a cylinder engine that pumps out 180 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque which is mated to a 6 speed transmission! So I suppose the debate is will it be able to take on the legendary Integra Type R? Maybe maybe not?

Alrighty let's have 'em! The praises and the jabs .

(oh yeah VW even is throwing in some 17's and a Monsoon sound system)

check out this New Beetle Turbo S pic

So maybe we'll think twice when we rollup on a New Beetle? Nah still smoke 'em!

its not that great. It weighs 3005 pounds, and has a 0-60 of 7.4 and yes it still has the flower vase, but its still overpriced for what is probably a mid to high 15 sec car. its like 23-24k

how can a car that small weigh that much, that's ridiculous. That's what my prelude weighs.

The Type R would definitely have the advantage, don't worry about the Beetles.:flash:

Dig this guys, the new GTI is getting a more powerful 1.8 Turbo! The new engine will be pumping out 180hp and 174 lb/ft of torque! Now I know that the GTI is not a heavy weight, I bet it probably has a chance against ITR. I mean look at all that torque!

Not impressive at all... rims are poopy! The ONLY beetle I would drive is the one they had in like Road and Track or Car & Driver (not recalling which one it was) but it had the EURO spec VR6 motor swapped in, DUAL twin turbos, mated to the Audi TT AWD system and a 6 speed tranny... power output was like 550hp and was a SCREAMER... only would cost you $65,000 including the cost of the car to get it done, AND it still remains servicable and you even get to keep all the warranties! Woohoo... but it still looks like poo!

what about the Beetle RSi I think it is.. I got an article on it in my Road & Track somewhere around here... thing is gonna cost like $85,000 but not sure if US release or not.... waste of money on a bug is what I think

though as much as i like camaros and all.. pulling up to one, them laughin at you and you smoking them in a flower POS would be nice hehe...

i know what you mean yogs. My family had a 1975 beetle and that thing was badass. It was a turbo 2100cc motor. It ran high 10s with a full interior. I think it put out over 400 hp, and it was pretty reliable too. I wish we hadnt gotten rid of it. It was before i could drive but i imagine it would be pretty fun seeing the look on the mustang or corvette owners face when they got their doors blown off by a bug

Is that your red prelude at the bottom? If so, please get rid of that wing.

Well if he likes it, why don't you just respect that?
I'm sure not everything you like is perfect.
