smoking when cold

my civic is smoking like a champ when it is first started ,,, but when it warm's up i quit's ... i think it may be burning oil but not sure it dose got a bad leak at the valve cover ... so am i right :
1. degrease and have a valve job
2. replace top end gasket's

and where can i find a 1.6 head at reasonable ... i my's well have it ported and polished and replace the cam to a aftermarket .... are there any proformance part's for this motor and if so where can i get them ...

with all the money it sounds like you're going to spend, you might as well just get a sohc vtec or dohc zc. don't get me wrong...ask anybody, i'm all about the d series. however, i have seen people do what you are doing and they end up because there wasn't a major hp gain.

is it blowing black smoke or white or possibly kinda blue smoke? how many miles on the engine?

if you really want to buy a head i can look around and see if we still have one for sale.

It's normal for the engine to smoke when the choke is on.

Mine does it too, it's cuz you're burning oil.

Just top up your oil when required (in my case about a litre a week) and you're good for it

it is fuel injected .... i got a case of 50 weight today ... i only need it to last til i get my accord done then i am going to end up tearing it down.... lady what is a head going for ... if the price is right i will get back to you about it there is 145K on it ..

i'm not exactly sure what you were saying?!?!

as for the head, we have a couple of 88-91 si heads. since i have more than 1 i don't think i can say exactly how many miles are on it, i would have to guess which head it is. i'm asking $100 + shipping cost

i will get back to you about the head ... but i was wondering what all it take's to drop a vtec in is there any swap kit's or is it a straight drop in with minor mod's needed?

What does the smoke smell like? oil or is it sweet vapor like smelling? Hover on the ground or disapate pretty fast?

After restoring an AMC Gremlin and getting a 2 ton buick into the mid 13's in the quarter and now I'm playing with a civic. After doing those I have one thing to say, anything you can think of for a civic they make a kit for it. The two above mentioned prodjects there was no kits of anykind to do anything and the performance parts were scarce but with a little ingenuity and a well equiped junk yard and parts store you can do anything.

it is oil... it smell's like it .... i am going to the u pull it yard this week i am going to see what they have in the line of honda parts...i am thinking about dropping a vtec in my accord to ...

sorry but that was funny to me. anyways you won't find any vtec kits. you should research a little more about what vtec is all about.
