Custom decals
I got a program for the pc at walmarts today that I want to try out, it makes decals for models in whatever design you want. I been trying to search the web for disign pictures and ideas. I am planning to make a custom design for the Skyline V-Spec I have coming in. If anyone know of some good websites to get ideas and pictures from please let me know.

Re: Custom decals
Its made by Testors and cost was a Whooping $5.30 American. Comes with a mini cd that has a simple program and a few cheezy designs, clear coat to cover designs after printing, and 2 kinda small decal sheets. Just enough to try it out.

I saw the same "kit" and thought about buying it in hopes of creating a Sunkist Soda decal to go with my Sunkist orange/blue NSX. Glad I saved my money.

Re: Custom decals
The testor kit (and many other inkjet decal systems) doesn't work well. You can print fairly good image on the decal papers supplied in the kit. However, the film is too thin, that once a decal is soaked in water, it dissolves the ink. Even if the top side is thoroughly protected, the back side isn't.

Re: Custom decals
you can have better luck, if you get a simple graphids program or, like me were we are lucky and have photoshop. you can buy decal paper at walmart or ny craft store, and it will work better then any testors paper

Re: Custom decals
LMAO, okok heres the dillio on that kit, u DO NOT need that cd, the program on taht cd is PUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURE SH*T, all u gotta do to get good results is, 1) just go to walmart and just buy the special paper, 2) having a decent ink jet printer would be very helpful, 3) dl photoshop from Kazaa and boom there u go, custom decal, or get pics of real life logos and print em out, booyaa perfection

Re: Custom decals
Will here's the real deal. I bought the testors kit to try out, I already had the Wal-mart paper, wasn't sure at time if it was gonna work right, and I already have Photoshop Pro. I just wanted the kit incase it had something else I might need. I haven't tried printing any out yet. Don't wanna waiste the paper. I am waiting on the Tamiya Nissan Skyline I ordered to come in before I start the trial and error. I was looking for some designs to edit and print on regular paper to see how it comes out. And the software on the cd is pure crap along with the few cheezy designs on it. $6 bucks isn't alot for a trial and error.

Re: Custom decals
I bought and used the kit. The cd is worthless. The paper that I got worked fine.
In my opinion, you do not need a kit, just find a place that sells quality waterslide paper and you're in business. J. Barry |
