rear differential noise

I'm getting a whining noise from the rear of my 93 grand cherokee limited. It starts at about 25-30 mph. The whine is there when the vehicle is under a load, when you let up on the gas or put it in neutral it stops no matter the speed. Anyone have a idea. Is this a u-joint or wheel bearing problem. There are no other noises or problems. Thanks
