1. might be a stupid qstion but: will it be able to drift?
2. would there be any kw increase? if so how much?
3. how much would it cost?

You might want to post on the silvia Forum which is futher down the nissan list.

As for some of your questions;

1. its possible to drift in AUTO. Will you drift? that depends on your skill as a driver.
2. I dont believe you will get any benifit of adding any more power, since power comes from the engine, not the drivetrain.
3. Since the RB tranny is AWD (assuming you want the 6-speed) it might be difficult to change over from the SR20DET. modified bellhousing, disconnecting the transfer case, ect. Not worth the time and money put into it trying to make it fit.
4. if you do happen to get it fit, you dont need a ECU, only thing that really changes will be the ratios.

were there A/T in BNR34s?

feel free to correct me if im wrong.

Re: GT-R gear box swap

thanks for all the feedback guys! yeah ill forget about the gtr box, too much of a hassle, i just dont want the s15 6 speed because ive heard a lot of bad things about them, like thin gears and that they brake down. is this true?

also, is the s14 5 speed any good?

Re: GT-R gear box swap

Heard that S15 trannys are weak, will be better to go with the RB25 tranny, or if you still want a 6sp, get a T-56, they can handle upto 600lb/tq, Lingfelter vettes don't even upgrade the tranny what so ever. It is light, I picked up mine from the ground when I had it out of my Firebird.
All aluminum casing, must warn you, they do cost and they are HUGE, might not fit in the tunnel, not sure haven't gotten around to my swap yet.

I recommend looking into the HKS 6speed tranny for the SR20 as well, the gears are built like a tank and ratios are improved for wider tuning limitations. JGTC uses HKS GT spec tranny.

Re: GT-R gear box swap

The problem with the s15 gearbox is that is was a five speed gearbox casing with six gears plus reverse jammed in it so some compromise was made. I.E thinner gears.
