Pop sound when throttle

I started getting this pop sound last month whenever I fully pressed on the gas from a dead stop. Now it happens at about mid throttle. When it happens the engine hesitates as it pops and then kicks back in.

Also there is a transmission leak. Everyday as soon as I park my car, I can see the transmission fluid just start to drip. I don't know exactly where it's coming from. There is also an unconnected hose in that area under the battery. It doesn't seem to drip from there cause of the angle but I can't find where the hose goes either. I was thinking if that's some sort of return line for the transmission fliud. Any help and suggestions for both problems are appreciated.

Re: Pop sound when throttle

Tuarus' had a and some still do have problems with the sub frame mounts wearing. The problem you are describing is similar to a subframe mount that needs tightening. It could also be your engine mounts. If they are worn then the engine is going to be having too much movement on accel. This could give you the poping noise.

Is there any recall on that or is it something that ford is going to suck money out of me?

Also about the tranny, there's barely any fluid in there now cause most of it has leaked out. What will happen if I drive it like this for a day or two?

Re: Pop sound when throttle

If you drive with low fluid the torque convertor will not have the fluid it needs to to give you forward motion. So you will rev the engine and you won't go anywhere. There isn't any recall for subframe mounts on a 98. It is only listed in TSBs, technical service bulitens. These are what we use when diagnosing problems. So yes Ford has no blood only money. It runs through all their veins and your dealer is the blood donation location.

Is it possible for subframe mounts to loosen if surrounded by fluid? I'm thinking that all the tranny fluid that pools around the bottom of the engine has something to do with it.

Oh yea about the unconnected hose. I've looked around and have found nothing that it attaches to. Sometimes I will see a little fluid about the color of the transmission fluid at the tip of it. Is there some sort of return line for the tranny fluid?

I think I have traced my problem. I never knew there were such things as "transmission coolers" on the car. It seems it is located in the area underneath the radiator. And that's exatly where the pool of transmission fluid starts. So i'm guessing that something got knocked loose there. Here is where I got my idea from http://www.niesens.com/hobbies/cars/...ission-cooler/ . I don't have an aftermarket one on mine (at least i think not). But from what is being described, there is one main one and another one connected to other hoses and lines.

OK, got the transmission cooler lines replaced. No more leakage.

But the engine pop. It's getting worse. It will do it when i barely push the throttle but a second later the engine returns to normal.

Left rear window problem. The switch on that door doesn't work. But the switch for the window on the driver's door works fine. So I know the problem is not with the window but the switch. How do I get to it?
