hey fellas just curious. how many pounds of boost do u think the new 2005 mustang will be able to handle totally stock. it has a 4.6 with 9.8"1 compression pistons and 300 hp.

not a clue. we dont' even know what the bottom end is made of yet.

oh, and i assume 'suppercharged' means that the car will get to come eat with you =P

Nonetheless, it was a funny mistake.

I wouldn't really run much over 9 lbs of boost on the stock 4.6. Although the block is pretty strong, somehow, the rest of the engine doesn't seem that stout to me. Plastic intake manifolds and hypereutectic pistons are not my thing.

Hypereutectic pistons can be strong, but in the 4.6 2V's it really is the cheap powdered metal connecting rods that go out on you. Personally I've never see anyone melt or crack a hypereutectic or forged piston with the sheer amount of power they're making, it's always due to detonation.

too many variables to make a firm decision there... prolly wanna step up to 24# injectors and a mass air meter to match, and a 190 lph pump. ecu doesn't NEED any mods, but you should put a chip in it if you want that little extra edge.
