Ignition upgrade for CRX with NX

I'm still being plagued by what seems like backfire once I spray a 50 wet shot on my CRX D16a motor. I've corrected possible causes and I think the only thing left to do is to upgrade the ignition. I think the weak spark from the stock ignition can not completely burn the mix which I think may be causing the backfire. Then I thought that maybe my set up is actually misfiring due to the weak ignition. But will a misfire cause an explosive sound similar to a backfire? I've seen other posts and all I've heard about backfire is how damaging it is to an engine. My engine still runs perfect and the plugs are good. I need some tech help before I invest on the ignition upgrade. I will be using an MSD Blaster 2 coil, MSD modified cap and Magenecor 8.5 wires to start. Not sure if I need the MSD Digital 6 with nitrous retard.
