Unhappy 93 Camry ???

a few months ago I was posting to find out if anyone could help me with my 93 camry that wouldn't start, and when it did it ran rought, we did all kinds of stuff to it
replaced wires and plugs
replaced the ignitor
replaced the coil
had the timing belt changed
checked the fuel lines, and the filter
and still no better off then we were before, if anyone would like to give any last suggestions that we haven't allready tried that would be great, cause the Camry is gonna be sold for parts :-(.

Re: 93 Camry ???

Do a compression test. Then test for intake manifold vacuum at idle. Check for diagnostic codes in the computer. Clean the injectors.

What engine?

Re: 93 Camry ???

I had a 93 Camry that did the same thing. But it starts okay. Just idles rough. And when giving power, it feels like there is no power and can feel misfire at times. Just started doing this when the car reached 130k miles. Did basically everything you mentioned. Even all the sensors check and there were no codes given by the computer. So the last thing the mechanic and I can think of is the distributor itself. As the 93 model, the ignition coil is built into the distributor. After performing some voltage test and well as other tests, we found the coil was bad. To make matters worse, you cannot just replace the coil inside the distributor. The whole distributor has to be replaced. The cost of a replacement distributor is over $300 and this is a OEM part only. Cannot find a aftermarket whole replacement distributor.

hello, camry 1993 have the weakness on the air flow meter,if you not carefully replace the air filter you can damage the air flow meter. When this unit fail you would not be able to start the car. sometime after 10-15min. of trying it will start and run find but then you turn it off it would not want to start again. try to get one from the dismantle yard.
