Angry Argh! Blaster worm, please help!

Anyone know what the hell a blaster worm is? I know that they're bad and heaps of people get them, oh and I'm incapable of getting rid of one.

Norton basically informed me twice today, that it has detected a blaster worm and it can't fix it. So what the hell do I do now?

Its not the blaster worm, it just came out like the weekend before last it's called the sasser or agobot worm....

Few steps you gotta do is go into the task manager and end process on one of the 2 programs(you'll most likely only have the first one)

Avserve.exe this is also been found with a 2 at the end of avserve and the other one to look for it going to be any 5 random numbers with an underscore up.exe **example 43434_up.exe**

Then after that is don't go to the control panel and connections and then further onto connection properties and then the advanced tab you have to turn on the firewall for winxp.

Then connect to the internet and go to www.microsoft.com/security/incident/sasser.asp

You can go right to step 3 and download the security update for this then you can go to www.stinger.notlong.com
when you get there it's goin to take you to Macafee's website where you can download the avent stinger tool just use that and it will get rid of the worm off your computer...AND ALL IS WELL IN THE WOLD AGAIN!!

Or since you have Norton, if you go to the norton site; they have programs you can download that specifically attack any given virus

Norton never did shit to this one, they only thing they got was a removal tool, and the only way around this particular worm woulda been gettin security updates.

Re: Argh! Blaster worm, please help!

For those that need to get around Windows shutting down on them, do this:

Click Start
Click Run
Type "shutdown -a" and click OK.
This will abort the shutdown process and allow you to stay in Windows and do what you need to do to fix this worm.
